To improve innovation capability indicates that domestic auto manufacturers should focus on improving their independent innovation capacities instead of only introducing products and technologies. If 80% of Chinese manufacturers only pay attention to introduce technologies and brands from foreign companies rather than improve the innovation capabilities of their JVs, which have mutual interests to the two parties, Chinese automotive industry cannot achieve the goal of realizing independent innovation.
Independent innovation is the task for all auto manufacturers in China, not only for manufacturers for indigenous brand products. A fair competition environment is necessary to the achievement of independent innovation.
The relevant administrations should set the target of building a strong automobile country, study and determine the policies and working systems to create a better environment.
